The gardens are extensive and predominantly consist of flowering perennials looked after by enthusiastic clients who enjoy gardening, framing this beautifully restored 1930s home.
The landscaping approach is sympathetic to the location, seamlessly integrating architectural modifications within the existing landscape in order to create a tranquil garden that remains elegant at all hours of the day.
An equal amount of hard and soft landscaping completed by excellent builders and landscape contractors.
At the entrance, the planting has a more composed, formal quality, gradually loosening as the garden moves around the house towards the pool. Flowering perennials spill through generous beds alongside evergreen planting, bringing colour, texture and movement through the seasons.
A mature ginkgo anchors the front garden, while layered hedging and planting create a sense of intimacy without closing off the expansive outlook towards Rangitoto Island nearby.
The changes in level between the house and garden are handled with a light touch, allowing the landscape to unfold naturally from the architecture. Around the pool, planting and screening create a more private retreat, with the pool house tucked discreetly into the landscape and the view beyond left to do much of the work.
The garden is also designed to be lived in, a deeply personal space that feels considered and uncontrived, where architecture and planting are allowed to naturally mature together.
